In all these domains, CEDRAT designs, manufactures and tests components, systems and associated electronics, following customer requirements and keeping the objective to achieve both technical and marketing success. For example in the field of smart structures for air & space applications, the number of manufactured piezoelectric actuators has passed 1000units in 2006, including sales to NASA. CEDRAT also performs R&D activities and transfers of technologies for mass production applications. For example, a patent applied by FIAT reveals the interest of CEDRAT actuators as a low cost efficient solution for injectors. Other examples are piezo generators developed for LEGRAND for house appliances or contactless torque sensors for PSA. Training activities completes these technology transfers to large industries. Equipment available to support the research. The R&D facilities used by CEDRAT to customize these technologies include advanced modeling CAD programs. ATILA 3D Finite Element Method software is a world-wide standard dedicated to the modeling of 2D/3D structures including active materials. FLUX 3D FEM is also a standard but for magnetic engineering devices. MATLAB-SIMULINK, SPICE and ALTIUM are used for the design of the driving and control electronics. SOLIDWORKS CAD is used for the mechanical computation & design. The R&D facilities include also workshop facilities and Test Equipment adapted to Electric Engineering and Electro-mechanics: 2D/3D metrology. Clean assembly room. Thermal-Vacuum chambers. Vibration shakers. PCs with LABVIEW. Laboratory power supplies and amplifiers for piezo and magnetic devices. Impedance analyser. Spectrum analyzer. Gaussmeters. Laser interferometers / vibrometers.
